From a meal photo to a useful starting point

  1. Take a clear photograph with the food visible and good lighting.
  2. Review the food identified and any estimated portion or nutrition information.
  3. Check the result against what you know about the meal, especially added oil, sauces and serving size.

Indian meals and everyday foods

The HeyBobo app listing includes recognition of Indian dishes such as idli, dal, biryani and rotis, alongside other foods. A familiar dish can vary substantially between recipes, restaurants and home cooking.

A photo of dal and rice does not reveal every ingredient or the amount of oil used. Treat the result as an estimate to review, rather than a precise measurement.

What a photo cannot tell you

Hidden ingredients, allergens and exact portions may not be visible. Do not use a scan to decide whether food is safe for an allergy, adjust medication, or manage a medical condition without qualified guidance.

Build understanding over time

Use meal insights to ask better questions about your food and notice your routine. For packaged food, the manufacturer's label is another useful source of information. Learn about ingredient scanning or read about Bobo's limits.
